Our students at Foothill Elementary are motivated, intelligent, caring, creative and happy kids. They try hard every day to do their best. We have two reasons for starting a Read-a-Thon at our school.

One reason is: One of our school site goals is to improve reading proficiency and comprehension. We would like 95-100% of the students to be at or above grade level in English Language Arts. We feel that a Read-a-Thon will help us achieve this goal, and at the same time, enhance their love for reading.

The second reason is: We are creating a Maker Space at our school, where kids can be innovative and create things. They can build robots, sew or learn about other aspects that interest them. We need funds to buy materials and support this wonderful cause.

We are excited about this new school year and would love to start off on the right foot, by creating positive reading habits for all of our children. It will be intrinsically rewarding for everyone involved to see the students excited to read and making progress towards our goal.

You can find Foothill’s Read-A-Thon Page here!  Your child’s information should come home in the September 8th Thursday folder.

Read-A-Thon Begins on September 15th!
